This is what I woke up to in London yesterday morning. Well, on TV anyway. Typical British weather meant our view of this phenomenon was underwhelming to say the least. But for about an hour as the moon covered over 80% of the sun I swear it became colder and darker with the sky taking on a neither day nor night moody theatricality from my King's X rooftop viewing platform. The diamond ring effect and Baily's beads, as seen from a plane above the Faroe Islands, were a wonder to behold and - temporarily anyway - put my own first world problems into perspective. Only another 10 years to go until the next one. Yellowstone National Park is looking tempting.
I am a published short story writer and screenwriter from London. I have lived in several places around the world but my favourite city is Berlin while my favourite countries are India and Russia. I am currently working on a film script about flamenco dance.
